**What Could It Mean for Property investors.**
Better transport connections could create new opportunities for homeowners, investors, businesses and people looking to buy or rent in Canterbury.

**What’s happening?**

A 12-month commuter rail trial has received Government funding approval, with services expected to begin in mid-2027.

The proposed morning and evening services will connect **Rangiora, Rolleston and central Christchurch**.

The Rolleston journey is expected to take less than 20 minutes by train, compared with around 50 minutes by road.

The project could also improve connections between Christchurch and towns further south, including Ashburton, Timaru, Oamaru and Dunedin.

**Why should property owners and buyers pay attention?**

- **Property owners:** Could improved transport links influence property demand and values?

- **Buyers and investors:** Could towns along the proposed routes become more attractive?

- **Renters and businesses:** Could easier commuting influence where people choose to live and work?

**Have your say:**

Could commuter rail change where people choose to live, work or invest in Canterbury?

Would you consider buying or renting further from Christchurch if rail commuting became a practical option?
