Some big housing developments are getting underway, so Porirua population is sure to grow.

I think Porirua is a great place to live! I particularly like the beaches, bike trails, walkways and scenery. It’s a good sized city, with everything I need within easy reach - and it’s only a short commute into Wellington city for work. Porirua has good facilities (the library, swimming pool, etc) and a sense of community. It’s easy to get around. There’s plenty to do. It’s a wonderfully multi-cultural city.
I particularly like living in Mana, as it is sandwiched between the inlet and the harbour. I never tire of the scenery on my morning walk to the train station. I can pop over the road for a swim (in summer), or a walk or run or bike ride. I can take a short stroll to pick up some groceries or takeaways, without needing to use a car. It’s a friendly and safe-feeling neighbourhood. And I’m pretty sure the weather is always better here than a few kilometers south.

Porirua surprises me, even when there is traffic in the city centre it always just moves, it is so much easier to live here for me than Wellington. The icing on that cake has been Kaitahi food market, big city sophistication? May I encourage people to use it so we don’t lose it! Shopping here is great and easy, I love the Fish shop and different food options and the amazing library. Its a all easy to engage with.
